Night Golf experience illuminates the region
Sheffield International Venues (SIV) has launched innovative night golf sessions, featuring luminous balls and lit fairways to challenge even the most talented players.
Ambassadors from the Yorkshire South Tourism Conference Ambassador Programme were invited to Beauchief Golf Course to put their skills to the test at the launch event, which took place on Wednesday 21 October.
Aimed at businesses throughout the region, night golf, which is exclusively being offered as a team building activity by SIV Golf, offers a unique exercise for golfers and non golfers in the picturesque grounds of Beauchief Abbey.
Andy Carnall, SIV golf manager, said: "People view golf very much as a summer sport because of the longer daylight hours, but night golf takes away these limitations and allows people to try something new.
"Night golf is a real test to a golfer's skills because it much more difficult to judge distances on the course. It is also a very surreal experience to watch! It was great to see the Yorkshire South Ambassadors getting to grips with it."
With golfers and non golfers welcome, a typical evening consists of a buffet and drinks reception, plus coaching and tips from a PGA professional. This is followed by eight holes of night golf out on the course.
Gemma Bradshaw, Ambassador Programme Manager for Yorkshire South Tourism said, "The Night Golf event was a great success and all of the Ambassadors commented on how much they enjoyed the experience. The course looked fantastic".
"We work very closely with the regions conference ambassadors to help attract more national and international conferences and events into the region and to date the value of confirmed business generated through the programme is worth over £1.5 million pounds to the local economy."
