Beauchief Golf Course Tips

Pro's Tips

There are good and bad days on the golf course but even on a good day we'd all like to play that little bit better. We all need a head start sometimes, especially if you've never played the course before. That's why we've developed a set of pro's tips for Beauchief to help improve your score. The pro's tips provide you with useful tips on how to play each hole and master the course!

Hole 1
A tee shot to the plateau will provide a level stance for your second shot to the long green. Keep the tee shot and your approach to the green to the left of centre.

Hole 2

A good par 3. Always a club more than it looks, don't be fooled by the contours, your ball will not kick in from the right.

Hole 3

A tricky fairway to hit, but a tee shot aimed down the right hand side allows the ball to feed back into the fairway. Your second shot is uphill to a narrow green and is protected by a small bunker on the left.

Hole 4

A straightforward par 3. Club section is the most important aspect on this hole. Missing the green left or right may result in a tricky bunker shot.

Hole 5
A good tee shot to the corner of this dog-leg left, will need a mid iron to a well protected green. The brave may consider making the hole shorter by trying to cut the corner but BEWARE - the stream and out of bounds cut in more than you think.

Hole 6

A fairly straight forward hole - find the fairway and the second shot could lead to a good birdie opportunity.

Hole 7

A long par 4 will feel like a par 5. A tee shot anywhere but in the fairway will almost certainly rule out getting on the green in two. The approach to the green needs to be accurate there is a stream in front of the green and out of bounds both left and right.

Hole 8
Think twice about this tee shot, as it is risk and reward! A positional tee shot leaves a short approach to an open green. Risk all and go for the green and the stream will gladly keep your ball.

Hole 9

A straight uphill par 3, very long and may need all you have got.

Hole 10
A positional tee show between the two big trees will leave a long second to a narrow green protected by bunkers both left and right.

Hole 11

A hole you will remember with water, water everywhere! A big green awaits a medium iron but don't be too long with out of bounds beyond the green.

Hole 12
The marker post gives you the ideal line. A good drive will lead to a short second shot and could lead to a good birdie opportunity.

Hole 13
A tight tee shot with out of bounds on the left. A good straight positional shot from the tee allows you to attack a tight green with your second shot.

Hole 14

A beautiful par 3. Its only protection is the bunker on the left - a real birdie chance!

Hole 15

Another long par 3 that always plays its full length. You must hit the middle of the green, as anything too far to the right will be taken by the slope leaving a difficult chip.

Hole 16

Time to unleash the big tee shot on this great par 5. It is reachable in two but only for the longer hitters. The majority will require three good straight shots to reach a two tier green.

Hole 17

A tee shot slightly right of centre should finish in the middle of the fairway leaving a short approach to an unprotected green. The locals always land the ball short to avoid going through the green.

Hole 18

Don't relax too early as the stream in front of the tee has ruined many good cards. Once over the stream the hole is yours and gives a real chance of a good finish.
